The Woodland String Band are from the Southwest neighborhood of Philadelphia, with a 100 year history (25 of those years connected to playing in Macroom) Many of the band’s performances have been for dignitaries such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt, President John F. Kennedy and President Richard M. Nixon.  In September 1999, Woodland was chosen to travel to Toronto and Montreal, Canada to represent the State of Pennsylvania’s Tourist Board in an endeavor to attract Canadian tourism to the Keystone State.  Since 2000 Woodland has traveled to Macroom, Ireland, Grand Cayman, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Wells, Maine, Shirley, Massachusetts, Milwaukee, Wisconsin,  Port Arthur, Texas, Portland, Oregon, Decatur, Illinois  and many other towns and cities through the United States.  Our Music Director while here in Macroom is Woodland Hall of Fame Member Joe Bujnowski. Over the years Woodland has brought over 2600 visitors to Macroom.  Many of those visitors have returned multiple times and have created a long term lasting and beautiful relationship between Macroom and Philadelphia.
